St Jude's Medical Centre

Bowral, NSW

  • Enlarge an existing medical practice located in a 1930s Bungalow cottage in the heritage precinct of Bowral.

  • Maintain a ‘low key’ residential character in keeping with the original building and surrounding properties, whilst doubling the useable floor area.

  • Provide first floor ‘attic’ office space and disabled access throughout

  • Improve amenities, vehicular access and parking on a constricted site.

  • Outcome
  • A substantial modification has resulted in a modern well appointed building, which retains the character of the existing cottage in a heritage precinct.

  • The re-arrangement of interior spaces improves the functionality and amenity of the building for its occupants, whilst the extended portion and first floor addition appear as if they have always existed.

  • The project is seen as a fine example of modern facilities sensitively inserted into a residential heritage setting.
